Dinner at Morrison Hotel

Last Saturday is a family member's Birthday, so we went to Morrison Hotel for our dinner as a celebration. I had a lot of friends said that is the best steak house in Brisbane.

Well, that was not a bad dinner. The Birthday girl ordered a 400g Black Angus Rump with pepper sauce. Because of, Angus is one of famous Australia Beef. the birthday girl was happy about her dinner

I ordered a Beer Battered Barramundi. That was very good! The fish sounded very fresh! Moreover, the chips and side dishes were tasty!

 That was a enjoyable dinner. The restaurant was very comfortable , not noisy at all! The service was good. Moreover, this dinner for two was only around $53. That was value for money.

Training Time

Today is a public holiday for Australia day. That is not a 100% day off for myself, I need to do some training sessions. Finally, I can have time to watch Google I/O and some IOS tutorial videos!

A big feast at sunny seoul

Yesterday, we had a gathering / birthday party at Sunny Seoul in mains road. That was a big feast. We ordered two sets of $99 barbecue and hot pot combo dinner. We had a big plate of combination of meats, including beef, pork and chicken. 

Moreover, we had a big beef and vegetable hot pot too!

 So huge!

Somethings more, we had a lot of Korean Side dishes, including Kim-chi  and salad.

We felt very very full for a whole night. I worked very hard in gym this afternoon too, I wish to burn the fat from this dinner! Moreover, our group had ten people, and just spent $198. That is a good deal!

Internet Literary Review

In my time at university, we already had internet. The most of sources were from internet. However, they were still some conference papers, just rather than getting them from library. We got them from a electronic database. Moreover, we had to check about the background of authors and conference, whether that is relevant to our research. That was very rare to use any internet websites. If we use them, we must have a very very excuse!
Nowadays, we have "google". That sounds everyone can be a professional researcher! I have a lot friends who claimed they are some kinds of experts on a specialized field. They can talk a lot and sounds know a lot too! After I asked "how do you know about that?", they started to show some websites, in some cases, they even showed me some video blogs from youtube. How can I trust those sources? Who is the author? How do they do the research? Even the authors have a "Dr." in front of their name, where they got their Ph.d and what is their research area. We completely don't know these information. I cannot treat any sources to be reliable with them, or even putting them into my "literary review".

Going to know more about bootstrap

I am going to microsoft office for .net user group. Today topic is about bootstrap. The latest responsive design framework. I wish to know about that. But i am so hungry now!!!

Finally, I got a break.

Today, that is Saturday.  I can get up at 10am, enough sleep.  I can find some time at gym and reading. That is great to have a day off.

I am thinking to buy roses

That is the first valentine's day after we got married. I am thinking whether I should some roses from our friend, Blooms, Baskets and gifts.

Using Mac

I got a Mac Book Pro about a year, but I only use OSX to build iphone app. Until recently, I got Android Studio installed in Mac Book Pro and my laptop. I found Android Studio working better in OSX. That is more easier to install and it got a better performance in OSX. I started to OSX more!

Home Office

I worked in my house most of time,even I got a part-time staff worked in my home too. Some of my friends from Hong Kong heard about this, they found that is very strange.Actually, in Queensland, that is not something unusual at all. I know a lot of people running their own business in their home. That is because we are not overcrowded as Hong Kong, that is no problem to put a office in our home. Moreover, home office can save a lot of money. Of course, this can save the rent for office space. In addition, that can save the travel cost and time between home and office. Thus, this is a great option for a small business, such as ourselves. 

Redcliffe - Day off

Finally, I got a day off. I got busy weeks before, I need to give myself a treat!

So, when I went to Morgans Seafood in Redcliffe. I bought a one and half dozen of fresh oysters. It tasted great! I want to have them again them!

Todo for Christmas

Most of people has already prepared the wishlist for Christmas. In my case, I got a to do list. I have so many things I have not time to do past few months. There are my to list items:

Yesterday, we had a raining during daytime. The rain has settled down near evening. After that, when I jogging in calamvale community sporting fields, I found the sky is beautiful! What's a amazing sunset!

Bring your own lunch

I went out for lunch every day, when I was in Hong Kong. That is not a big deal. However, in Brisbane, that is a different story. If I buy a lunch box in a food court, that will cost around $10. If I go to a proper coffee shop, you have to prepare a 20 dollars note from your pocket! If I have a lunch box from home, that is just around $2. I can save a lot of money during the week.

I am heading home from city. I finished the first round of work. I am so hungry . Well after dinner i still need to work.

So many tasks

A lot of my friends have started their Christmas Holidays. I am still working hard to get a lot of things for work, church and myself. I am still trying some Android and iOS done. I went sick for last Saturday.  That is the situation more worse.

Christmas party

I went to a company christmas party . I went to a restaurant near the brisbane river. We ate a tasty meal, good chat with other staff.

Airport Express

Every times, when I need to back home from Hong Kong Airport, I prefer use Airport Express which is the express train from airport to the CBD of Hong Kong. The train is fast and comfortable, that is less than 30 minutes to the CBD.  But the fare is a bit experience. The fare from Airport to Tsing Yi is $60 which is around 6 times of bus fare!

That is Friday! I nearly fall to sleep

During this week, I am so busy , I worked around 10 hours per day this week.That is great! Today is Friday, I can get some time off. But I am already so tired, when I was jogging outside, I nearly fall to sleep. I want to sleep, well, I still have a church meeting to go tonight! Brothers & sisters, please prepare a cup of coffee for me!

Hard to save money

I found that is very hard to save money during these recent years. Firstly, the fuel price is so high, around 130 to 150 cents, sometime, that was around 160 cents. Bus fare is high too, if we need to city, that is around 6 dollars! The electrical bills is very expensive too. The living cost in Brisbane become less and less affordable during these years.

Breakfast In Hong Kong

I just had my breakfast, that was toasts and a cup of coffee, Classic and simple. When I was in Hong Kong, I was able to have somethings better. That was so convenient. I just need to go down from my apartment, walk 5 minutes, I can go to a fast food restaurant. I buy a breakfast set. That is only around HKD$30. I can have a bowl of noodle and a cup of coffee. In other hand, in there, I need to grab my car and drive 10 minutes to sunnybank. And then I need to spend around AUD$8(around HKD$60) for a similar breakfast set. So, I feel so reluctant to do that!

French Toast in Hong Kong

That is around 11:30pm. I started to feel hungry again, because I only ate some left over pasta. Suddenly, I remember somethings I ate in Hong Kong last month, that is French Toast.
Although that is very fatty and very unhealthy, that is so tasty. The skin is deep fried, it is very crunchy. Moreover, in the middle of that is full of peanut butter. Yummy! I want to have it now!

Food, Food, Food in Hong Kong

Last month, I went to Hong Kong for about a month! Of course, I ate a lot and a lot of sushi!

Not just sushi, I ate a lot of Hong Kong style food, such as BBQ pork and Fake shark's fin soup.

That was great! 

In our plan, we wish to have enough budget for visiting Hong Kong next year again.

Hotpot and BBQ in South Korea

Last month, I traveled to South Korea with a Hong Kong tour group.  During this tour, I had a lot of Korean Style Hotpot and BBQ! That is not too bad and I ate a lot! Moreover, I found I love Korean BBQ most!

Happy Rainning

This morning, we got a sunny day again. However, last few nights got some heavy rains. That is good, my lawn got watered and my empty water tank got filled too. Moreover, this can reduce the risk of bushfire!

Seoul visit

I visited south korea for few days last month. I had spent about two days in seoul. I really like this city. There are a lot of places for shopping! But the time in there was too short. I want to visit there again

Back to Brisbane

Last month, I had a great time. I traveled to Hong Kong and South Korea. I just went back Brisbane this week. That is so tired after 8 hours flight. I wish I can have some more hours to sleep this weekend!

Travelling in south korea

I have spent a few days in seoul. I found that is very hard to travel by ourselves. I have asked some people in the street about where is the shopping center, but very few people can speak english. I think that is better to travel with some one can spread korean well!

After hours work

Running a start-up company, you have to prepare working during after hours. In a start-up company, all resource is very tight. That is nearly impossible to have any after hours staff which is too expensive to have. So, you have to do by yourself. Well, if you want to have your own start-up, a lot of things you need to do by yourself.

Backup is so important, but a lot of people always do not pay enough attention on this!

I have spent a lot of money to buy the backup storage and effort to get the backup working.  But that sounds a kind of useless in the normal situation. This is the reason, a lot of people are not keen on spending money on that! However, when the system is down, the backup is very very valuable!

Super Tired!

Last Saturday,  I went to helping out my church carnival and then I assembled a desk and wardrobe which we bought last week, that is super tired. Yesterday, I spared some hours to take a rest. But I am still super tired! I want a holiday!!!!

Sunny day again

During the start of this week, there was quite heavy rains. That was good. I got my empty rain water tank filled again. Today, we got a full sunny day too. That is another good thing.

Continuity Plans or Systems

A friend asked myself why we(AdvGen) always recommend all of our clients have some Continuity Plans or Systems if their IT system is essential for their business. She said if all go well, there should be not any problems. I asked her what if something goes wrong, they may lose money or clients. We cannot assume the things go well. This is not a prefect world, if anything can go wrong, there is possible to go wrong. Thus, we have to assume the worst situation can happen, how we can deal with that.

The reasons to have many blogs

A lot of people asked me why I have a number of blogs. Firstly, some of them are more professional. I did a proof read and someone did a proof read too! I even shows them to my clients. Some of them are very personal blogs. I do not bother there are some typo and grammar mistakes. That is for myself only.
Another reason is more technical. Blogs are separated into a number of servers and hosting providers. It will separate out work load. Moreover, no single point of failure! This is very important!

Very Tired

Today is the first day back to office. I am very tired. I got married on sat, and I spent two days in gold coast with my relative and my wife. Moreover, there are so many pending tasks need to be finished. I am exhausted.

A gateway holiday

Gold coast is a day trip option for myself. However, i have spent a few days in gold coast with my family. We stayed in an holiday apartment. That was a quite good. I did not need to rush back to brisbane during night time

May not able to do it better.

That is very easy to make some comments about other people work and make some suggestions to them.
In the most situations, we have considered those situations beforehand. In the majority of cases, we had not time or budget to take those suggestions. Also, in some situations , we are lack of experiences to carry out the tasks. My friends, we always try our best. However , that is the real world, nothing can be perfect .

Backup Plans are activated

The wedding is an important moment. However, that is a big project. I treated that as a project too. Thus, I have some backup plans in places to deal with the situations. For example, I found my own suits are not fitted for me anymore. I hired a suit.

The problem is all backup plans required extra budget. Actually, that is the reason, I treated those options as a backup before!

Checklist

I am so crazy. Next week, I will start my holiday, Moreover, I will have my wedding on that week too!
So many things items need to do in my head. I start to put them into checklist. I can solve them one by one.

I just backed from .Net User Group Brisbane

I just backed from  .Net User Group Brisbane tonight. That is a great session about the latest testing tool from Microsoft. Moreover, we have talked the news in .Net community too. I love  .Net User Group Brisbane meeting. We need to have this kind of meeting to stay updated as .Net developer. Also, we can have chances to do networking with other developers.

Crazy, Busy

I got a ton of tasks to be completed today, such as finish the first ios, writing a post on liveinbne, house cleaning and two reports done for clients. So so busy.
But even I cannot get a task done. I am so tired. Moreover, my wedding is only around two weeks. That is so so stressful!
I am getting crazy, wedding and a lot of personal stuff too!

I got up at 7.30am even I was off

I got a day off, but I had an appointment about 10.30. So, I got early,7.30am. I found in this way, I can get more things done. I went to gym for an hour, then I went to yum cha and I did some gardening, house cleaning, wrote a blog post and some apps developments. That was a very effective day!

Half day EKKA Holiday

Today is EKKA Show Holiday for Brisbane people.  At the morning, I was still getting some work done. 

However, I was still a bit bust at the morning. I got off around mid-night. We went to Gold coast.

1st stop is Hinze Dam. We spent about an hour walking around near the dam.

Then we were continue our journey to Natural Bridge. Our destination is the Glow worms cave. We arrived there around 5pm and waiting for sunset, so that, the sky was completely dark. At that period, worms would start to emit the light. 

We saw glow worms, but there were not many of them. Around 6.30pm, we started to go back.

Then we were at the last stop , Surfers Paradise. We had Sushi and Sashimi in Yamasakura

That was a enjoy day, that sounds we have been a lot of places in just half day!

Luckily, I got a full tank for my car

:Last night, I saw a 7-11 petrol station rise in pinelands raised the price to 156.9 cents per litre. Then I guess there will be petrol price is going to rocket high again. Then I got a full tank for my car for 146.9 per litre. This morning, I went out from home, I saw the most of stations list the price at 159.9 cents per litre. That is more than 10 cents different!

Around 10.30 pm, I drove passed  7-11 petrol station at pinelands road. I saw that was 157.9 cents per litre. But after that, I was still driving along the road, I saw Woolworth and BP were selling 146.9 cents per litre. I am worrying about the others petrol stations will follow 7-11 to rise the price. I got my car fuel up for 146.9.

Fuel Price in Shell is 1 cent more expensive than others

Today, I saw Woolworth and 7-11 listed the price of unleaded petrol is 146.9 cents per litre, but when I went to Shell in Sunnybank tonight, that was 147.9 cents per litre. So, please shop around first!

I got a cheaper fuel in Gold Coast

Yesterday, I got a full tank of fuel in Gold Coast, that was only 147.9 cents per litre, while Brisbane was selling 152.9 cents per litre. I think that is still cheaper in Gold Coast. There are some websites have the fuel per suburb, may be you can do a online research for suburbs nearly. There may be some suburbs have cheaper fuel price!

I have not a hong kong style breakfast for long time. This morning i need to go to see a physio. I passed by sunnybank plaza on the way to the physio . This is a good time to have hong kong breakfast

First Night without coffee

Recently, I am so so busy and tired. After my dinner, I still need to work and learn iOS programming. So, I used to have a cup of coffee with my dinner to keep myself awake. But tonight, I had a coffee-free dinner, that sounds a bit healthier. But I am so sleepy and I went out for dropping my friend back to home too! Moreover, Mains Road had two roadworks. That was a long and painful joinery.

This afternoon, I went to Sunnybank. I found the fuel price is falling, that is 157.9 per litre, but the price is still too high.

I am extending the advgencms. I am building an app in android for that cms. The aim is to manage the content anywhere . Moreover i am writing the photo album component for commercial version.
I hope we can have a better cms.

Wedding dinner

That is around about a month away from my wedding day. I have sorted out the most things, but I may need to change the venue for the reception(wedding dinner ). Originally, we booked parkland chinese restaurant. Today, i heard their kitchen has some damages from the fire on last thursday. Moreover, the restaurant are still closed. I am worrying about they won't be able to open for business on my wedding day.
Well , our wedding dinner will not be big. I have some backup options even parkland cannot accommodate us. Please pray for us.

Power Outage in Sunny Park

On last Thursday evening,  there is a fire brigade in Sunny Park. After that, the shopping center went dark. Yesterday, we went to there again. I found there is a part of the center where is near aldi has outage power. Thus, a number of shops are closed due with that, included Parkland Chinese Restaurant, ALDI  and eJoy, even the Italy restaurant outside are closed too. Today, we went there again, those shops were still closed. I suggest if you need to go there, please check with the center management on (07) 3345 7500 about whether the power back to normal.

RSS Reader

Google Reader is facing out now, I know RSS is a kind of "Old". But I still am using RSS to get the updates from the blogs who I like to read. So, I have to have a RSS Reader. So, we started a new project in CodePlex, AdvGenReader. The aim for this project is to build a framework to read RSS. This is the first version in Windows. Then we can port it into web form and  Mobile App.

A big spending day

My car did 60000km service today. A lot of things replaced such as engine oil,rear brake discs and four tyres. In total costed me more than a thousand dollars. Moreover the fuel price is so high. Keeping my car runs is not an easy job.

166.90cents for fuel

On saturday, i saw all petrol stations in logan sold 166.90cents per litre. This afternoon i saw a petrol station in calamvale sold the fuel in a same price. Even i had 10 cents off discount voucher, that will be 156.9 per litre. That is still too expensive!!!!

I am so sleepy

Sunday should be a day to have a break. But I did a lot of things, I went to my church during the morning, then you had our fellowship after church until 4.30pm. At evening, I went to Coles for supermarket shopping, because we want to buy a $100 goods in a single purchase for a 20 cents discount fuel voucher. At the end, we had $76 and got a 10 cents discount fuel voucher too bad.  Then we back home, I did house cleaning and cooked a dinner. That is a big day, I am so tired now!

Coles has an offer, if you buy $100, then you can have 20 cents discount  fuel voucher. The petrol price is so high. I really need that. Moreover, I got another coupon, for $5 off on a single purchase more than $70. I can save some money too! So, I need to do a huge supermarket shopping this afternoon.

Maybe, you need to fuel up your car

I went Logan this afternoon, I saw the petrol station marked 166.9 cents per litre!  That is crazy. Luckily, I drove back to Brisbane. I found that is still 158.9 cents per litre. Well, I think that should be better to fuel up. I just got a full tank on the way home. I suggest you fuel up your car too. I guess 166.9 cents may be the standard price tomorrow.

I need a coffee

I am so tired!!! I went for a service call and were jumping across a number of projects today. I wish to go home now or I had a super strong coffee!

I just passed by Sunnybank. The most of petrol stations are selling 157.9 cents per litre. That is 2 cents cheaper than yesterday.

Blue Monday

I got a busy weekend. On Saturday,  I put a website,Relegance Architects, to live and played a two hours Badminton. On Sunday morning, I went to Church and then after my lunch, I did some housework for three hours. So tired! I am still feeling tired. That is too bad, I need to have a client meeting at this morning.

The most expensive fuel I had

I heard about the crude oil price has reached the recorded highest before. I think that is the reason, I just bought a tank of the most expensive fuel I had! I filled a full tank for my car, that is $60 for a civic! Moreover, I saw the price tag of petrol is 159.9 cents per literal. That is crazy! I wish I was in Hong Kong, I can use MTR to travel around. I don't need to drive at all!

Trouble with cash

This morning , i found there were no cash in my wallet.  So i had to rush to atm, but i found the atm may be out of order. The guy was using the atm sounds have the problems to get out the cash fromand the machine. Then i went to supermarket for buying a pack of coffee filter. Hopefully i could get cash out in there. Unfortunately , the cash out was not working. Finally i had to go to the service counter sorted that out. I spent 15 minutes for that.

I went to sunshine coast today. I have drove for at least 3 hours. I am so tired. Even I drank a cup of milk tea, i still feel very tired. In the normal situation, it can keep me awake for a night. I am so exhausted !

Very Sleepy, but I still have a lot of tasks need to be completed

The most time of this week was spending on my holidays in Auckland. That was a great holidays, I did not write many lines of code. I spent a lot of time to be a real tourist! But after the holidays, I still need to finish the tasks for this week!

This is Friday, I am tried! I had 4.5 hours meeting with clients this morning. I am looking forward the holidays!!!

Get ready for wedding?

The wedding date is not far away now. That is only two months time...... I  booked the venue and photographer. The wedding dress are delivered Yesterday, we made the chosen for wedding flowers too. That will be Light Bella from Blooms, Baskets & Gifts in Everton Hills.
But there are still many things on progress, I need to work the songs on church service and book the dinner on the wedding date etc.....

Coffee is the things every day i need

I found after I started to be a full-time programmer, I need coffee every day. I had three cups of coffee every day.I used to be stay awake for a whole night, if I had a coffee after 6pm. But recently, I have to take a coffee every 6pm, this way is to make sure I can drive at night. 

That is Friday, a training day

Today is Friday, but that is a bit relaxing. I am in a Win8 training. Not that stressful at all. But I need to work tonight and tomorrow....

The Mobile service in Azure

The second things we learnt today is Mobile Service in Azure. That is very useful too! In a simple term, that is rest service to altering the sql table in Azure which is very good for the mobile app. Moreover, it has access control system to set who can insert, update the data.

Learning Azure now

Now, the presenter is talking about Windows Azure, this is the cloud service from Microsoft. It has VM, SQL, Storage. The most interesting thing is Active Directory in Azure. We can put your active  directory on the cloud. I can reduce the number of services I need to manage!

I am at windows 8 dev camp

I am in Microsoft Brisbane Office now and learning new windows 8. I hope we can learn enough to  build our windows 8 app.

Aussie dollars falls, that is good!

A friend told me Aussie dollars is falling, that is bad.  We are earning aussie dollars, if the aussie dollars falls, therefore our wages are cut!
I got a different views, that is good for us. I am running a web design company,AdvGen, we got a lot of competitions from other countries. Many people will consider the web design services from oversea. because of our strong currency, our web design is more expensive. If the ausssie dollars falls, our Australian service and products will become more competitive.

More Apps will come

I just finished a major update of  AdvGen Todo. This update, we changed the UI based on our users' feedback, such as making the live update on the time spent of a running task and the slider will jump to the page of the current task. We will continue to improve our existing apps and build more new apps!

The venue for wedding ceremony

That is very important to choose your wedding ceremony takes place. There will be the most memorable time for your life. The most of people will consider whether the place is romantic. However, there are some important factors. For example, the parking spots is essential too. When i choose the venue, i did some researches. I checked the number of park spots will be available in the hall and whether the spots are free of charge. I even checked the side streets nearby have some parking spots too. I wish my guests can go to the ceremony without any hassles.

Crowds @Causeway bay

I believe Causeway bay in Hong Kong may be the busiest area in the world. There is always full of people. I was in there near mid night, there were still a lot of people. Only one times, there was not many people, that was about an hour after typhoon signal number 8 took off. Most of shops were still closed. Besides that times, in my memory, there is always busy.

I want to have my chinese new year in Hong Kong

A few days ago, when i was in calamvale central for my supermarket shopping. I saw there is a sign for "Happy Chinese New Year". Yes , the chinese new year is coming, that is lesser than a month time. I have not go back to Hong Kong during Chinese New Year for years. 
Hong Kong is my hometown. According to the chinese custom,  everyone will go back to his/her home and spends theto time with his/her family. That is the reason i want to back to Hong Kong during Chinese new year. Moreover, there will be a big fireworks for Chinese New Year. That will be fun!!!! But that's too bad. I am so busy for my company during these months. I cannot go to anywhere outside Brisbane.

Coffee at night

Usually,i do not drink coffee at night. But i got some work to complete last night.  I had to keep myself awake.Thus, i had my dinner at Winter Garden foodcourt. I had a cappuccino at Star Espresso. That was quite good. However, i worked until midnight. That was not easy.

Les Miserables is great.

I watched Les Miserable few days ago. This was very great. That is much better than other movies I watched last year such as batman and 007.  The songs are great. Hugh Jackman acts and sings very well. Moreover, the movie is better than musical. The actors can preform their acting in the film than a stage. In addition, the film has some visual effects which cannot have in the musical stage. For example, at javert's death scene,  we can see him jump into seine. The scene is very impressive! We cannot have the same experience in a theatre. I highly recommend you to watch this movie.
